Pronouns in Hindi – सर्वनाम
Pronouns are words which can be used instead of a noun. जो शब्द noun के स्थान पर प्रयोग होता है उसे pronouns कहते है
He is a good boy.
They are my good friends.
In above sentence, He and they are pronouns.
Pronouns in Hindi
Pronouns have the same functions as nouns: They may act as subject and object of a sentence.
अर्थात pronoun भी वाक्य में noun की भांति कार्य करता है (किसी वाक्य में subject या object के तौर पर )
Ex:- He is my true friend and I can do everything for him. (He– subject & him– object.)
Types of pronouns in Hindi
वैसे तो pronouns, books में कितने ही प्रकार के दर्शाए जाते है, but competitive English के
Point of view से pronouns दो प्रकार के होते है:-
Forms of pronouns:
A pronoun can be singular and plural and can be used to refer first, second and third person.
The following diagram explains the various forms and types of pronouns :
(बात करने वाले व्यक्ति, अर्थात बोलने वाले)
|I, me, mine||We, us, ours|
(सुनने वाले व्यक्ति)
|You, yours||You, yours|
(जिनके विषय में बात की जाती है )
|He, she, it, him, hers, his||They, them, theirs|
Ex:-I just want to say that he is the man whom you can trust.
(उपरोक्त वाक्य में heके बारे में I बात कर रहा है और you सुन रहा है)
Pronouns in Hindi
A. Personal pronouns:-
Personal pronouns refer to a specific person, places or things.
1. Subject pronoun : A personal pronoun should be in the subjective case(form) if the pronoun functions as a subject in a sentence. A subject pronoun comes before the verb as in the following cases:-
|First person||I||We||1)I would do anything to succeed
2) We would do anything to succeed
|Second person||You||You||1) You are my best friend.|
|Third person||He, she, it, who||They||1)He/she can call the director
2)The boy who sang a song, is my friend
3)It can be resolved over the phone.
4)They will meet the customers today.
Note:- उपरोक्त सभी pronouns, verb से पहले use होते है वाक्य में subject के तौर पर
2. Object pronoun : If a pronoun stands for any other noun than a subject we use the object pronoun. They are used as an object of a verb or a preposition
|First person||Me||Us||1)The customer called us today to book the tickets
2)My uncle wrote a letter to me.
|Second person||You||You||1)The tickets have been booked for you.|
|Third person||Him, her, it, whom||Them||1)He can call him/her for the party tonight
2)The package will be sent to them in a nine day’s time.
Note:- उपरोक्त सभी pronouns, verb के बाद use होते है वाक्य में object के तौर पर

3. Possessive pronouns:-
The possessive pronouns show ownership (अधिकार):-
|First person||Mine||Ours||1)That black pen is mine
2)Ours is the green one in the corner.
|Second person||Yours||Yours||1)The decision is Yours to make|
|Third person||His, hers, its, whose||Theirs||1)This book is theirs.
2)Whose book is this.
In the above sentences mine, ours, yours, his, hers, whose, and theirs are possessive pronouns as they show possession.
Look at the following sentences:
- This is my book
- Her book is on the table
- Our customers are sensible.
In the above sentences MY, HER,& OUR are possessive adjectives as they modify the noun that follows.
This is yours book. (incorrect)
This is your book. (correct) = This book is yours. (correct)
B. Reflexive pronouns:
We use the reflexive pronoun when the action of the doer goes back to himself so that the subject of the sentence is the same person as the object. (अर्थात कार्य करने का प्रभाव कार्य करने वाले पर ही पड़ता है)
It is a pronoun of——- self-pattern and used as an object. Ex. He has hurt himself.
Note:- इस pronoun का use किसी बात पर जोर देने के लिए भी किया जाता है
Ex:-He himself washes his clothes. ( वह स्वयं अपने कपडे धोता है )

|Second person||Yourself||Yourselves||You can do it yourself|
|Third person||Himself, herself, itself||Themselves||1)She/he did it herself/himself.
2)They do the work themselves.
Enjoy, absent, sacrifice, satisfy, avoid, apply, acquit, avail, introduce etc. आदि ऐसी verbs है जिनके बाद एक object या एक reflexive pronoun का प्रयोग अवश्य होता है
Ex:-I enjoyed the party. (correct)
I enjoyed myself. (correct)
I enjoyed the party myself. (incorrect)
I enjoyed myself in the party. (correct)
Ex:- You should avail yourself of every opportunity to learn. (Correct)
